EU Citizenship, EU awareness and DemocracyInclusion - equityNew innovative curricula/educational methods/development of training courses

Objectives

In December 2012 the latest Compass manual for Human Rights Education was released by the Council of Europe, and new versions of other important manuals on different HRE related topics (such as Gender Matters about gender issues) have been updated in the latest years, as well as new has been published (T-Kits on conflict transformation and such). We will base the course on the Compass, other manuals by the EU-COE partnership, and strategies proposed by the European Charter for Education on Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education, to provide an ample spectrum of modern approaches to HRE for young people. Many youngsters are still not informed about this latest editions, and they manifest curiosity and interest when getting to know about it. The ones who never heard about it before become easily excited about this opportunity and would like to learn more in order to share its practices with their peers and in their communities. With our training course, we wish also to promote the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities in the development of the society and in building the future Europe, to rise up the awareness on the importance of mutual understanding for a better living, the need for intercultural and interfaith dialogue, and to promote human rights-based approaches in the lives of young people in Europe. During our initial research and planning of the project proposal, all partner organisations have expressed that their staff and youth workers have a clear need to furthermore develop their competences on working with HR education. Staff and youth workers from partner organisation have also expressed that they lack tools (methods/materials/educational resources) for working on the themes as well as international good examples and practices for youth work with HR education, European citizenship and empowering young people to be active participants in community and democratic life.
