Objectives

The project’s idea developed from the analyses of needs of 150 young people respondent to a quiz applied in the 10 partner NGOs during December 2018; their needs are related to unemployment and development on personal and professional level so to fit the job market; their responses fit the general statistics on the needs of young people: according to the latest Eurostat figures the economic crisis has hit the young more than other age groups: 5.5 million young people are still unemployed in the EU, the youth unemployment rate in the EU-27 has been around twice as high as the rate for the total population (end 2008), and has dramatically increased over the last four years, at the end of 2012 the youth unemployment rate was 2.6 times the total rate while the total of young people not in employment, education or training, is currently around 14 million in the EU. Youth Unemployment Rate in Greece averaged 35.19 percent from 1998 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 60 percent in March of 2013 and a record low of 20.10 percent in May of 2008. The project idea was refined based on responses to BYA quiz applied to 10 partners regarding their needs to respond to the interests of their/our youth; they mentioned: Lack of understanding the concept of non-formal learning; of specialized youth trainers for organizing non-formal educational activities for the local community, especially schools; of tools for developing employment skills for their youth; of specialized&motivated youth workers to run NF.ed.programs for youth. The solution all 10 partners reached is a non-formal education program designed for youth workers aiming to develop them facilitating and multiplying skills so to train young people in their communities on the 4 main categories of skills and capabilities needed in the labor market according to Blades (2012): Personal (confidence and self-esteem) Interpersonal (social and communication skills, teamwork, assertiveness) Self-management skills (reliability) Competences in initiative and delivery planning, problem solving, prioritizing). Each trainer youth worker sent by the 10 Ongs will return and multiply the curricula on employment skills for other youth. We will create a Network of specialized youth workers with abilities in helping young people to reach the job market, focusing on Blades’soft skills; attractive training program will up-to-date the competences of the 32 youth workers and generate innovation and creativity of their youth work- based on the needs and expectations of their young target group, focusing on the necessary competences for active citizenship and employment Project’s aims: - Developing skills on designing and facilitating NFormal activities (employment skills and quality of debriefing focused) for 32 youth workers during 9 Days of TC; -Empowering 32 youth workers from 10 countries to multiply employment skills for vulnerable groups in their communities for 9 days of TC; - Improving the quality of NF programs and activities for VULNERABLE youth for 10 partners by empowering 2 of their representatives/youth works during 10 months of project; - Developing the creative and innovative potential of young people through non-formal learning in ways that are relevant to employability for 150 young people (indirect beneficiaries of follow-up activities) during 4 months; - Promoting networking between researchers and activists/perfectionists of NF education from 10 countries.
