To meet the educational needs of the school, we submitted an application to the Erasmus+ program requesting 13 mobility opportunities. The goal was to collaborate with individuals - teachers - organizations that have experience in the subject of appropriate classroom management and strengthening the positive behavior of our students. This participation aimed at long-term collaboration between a broad group of interested members concerned with classroom management. Also, it was very important for the teachers of the school to get to know educational systems - organizations that have experience and use successful - innovative methods and tools that result in the improvement of learning results. Wanting to achieve the above goals, we promoted the participation of teachers in European training programs for quality professional development and their empowerment. Our aim was also to maintain contact and open communication channels with some of these organizations for further cooperation after the end of the mobilities using the eTwinning platform. These actions would help to strengthen our European identity as well as our presence in the European educational community with an exchange of ideas, opinions and good practices on the subjects of the proposed project
The Primary School Ag. Omologitwn KB, a multicultural school, in which 130 children aged 9-12 and 12 teachers worked, had set as its goal in October 2018 the implementation of the Positive Behavior Support (PBS.) This specific system seeks to create and maintain a positive and safe climate in the school unit with the ultimate goal of maximizing the learning and social performance of all students. For this purpose, the teaching staff collaborated with Dr. Lefki Kourea, scientific manager of this action. The teachers of the school, in collaboration with Mrs. Kourea and her colleagues, attended educational activities within the school unit with the aim of developing basic abilities and skills and getting to know appropriate methods and tools that would promote positive behavior and also the emotional development of children. This is how the application was made to the Erasmus + program in order to interact with experienced teachers in related matters (job shadowing) from various countries and from teachers of academic institutions (attending seminars) in European Union countries. The purpose of this training was the professional development of teachers in these fields. The participation of teachers in European training programs certainly contributes positively to the expansion of their professional development, with direct positive effects both on themselves and on their students, while at the same time the European identity and citizenship of the wider European educational community is strengthened.
