Objectives

The project "Think before you Drink-Prevention" [TDP] is a result of a cooperation between youths from partners coming from Cyprus, Moldova, Romania, Lithuania, Ukraine, Turkey, Belarus, Serbia, Armenia and Georgia and it will last from June 2019-July 2020 with an Activity -Exchange between 16-24/1/2020 in Cyprus. The idea is to increase awareness through NF activities, intercultural dialogue and youth involvement the Adverse Side Effects (A.S.E) of Alcohol misuse and suggest/promote prevention through products and campaigns. The youths from our NGOs came up with this idea because they: - experience situations where adults and young people drink alcohol without thinking, only because it's (faulty taken as) regional or cultural habit. - see and experience in some cases high rates of A.S.E due to alcohol, happening in their circle and in the communities (neighborhoods, university, nightlife) but also in national level. Some examples of these are: intoxication, appetite changes, weight loss, eczema, headaches and sleep disturbance, alcohol intoxication, coma, deaths from liver disease, rape, unsafe sex and it's consequences, car accidents, street fights, violence etc. While discussing and sharing these A.S.E during projects, youths realised that some Programme and Eastern Partnership countries share common facts and data in regard to the topic. Their countries listed in top 20 of the ones whose people consume the most alcohol, and accidents, and other A.S.E are not getting less due to the fact that people are not willing to improve on this topic or to apply an attitude that will prevent more A.S.E from alcohol misuse. The topic was brought to our partnership boards and project managers who found out after SWOT Analysis that we have the need to implement an Exchange activity to enrich our experience in the youthfield in regard to prevention, health and well being of young and adults, intercultural dialogue, to support our youths to be more experienced when facing diversity and to support mainly youths with fewer opportunities due to economic, social, cultural and health reasons to participate and contribute on shaping their living The participants for this project Activity will be 40 youths and 10 leaders from 10 partners. There will be 38/50 who face fewer opportunities. We support their participation because we aim on participatory and intercultural learning based on inclusive practices, therefore young people with social, economical, health and cultural problems have maximum priority. The project also meets International, EU and E+ objectives because: -It supports the policy of World Health Organization on European action plan to reduce the harmful use of alcohol 2012–2020 -at E+ guide 2019 it's mentioned that among the objectives is to improve the level of key competences and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities, as well as to promote intercultural dialogue, social inclusion -it's a project from youth for youths and rest of the society -it will assist on promoting opportunities for international mobilities under E+ to youths who are not very familiar with such programmes. The activities of the YE are designed based on NFL and include learning by sharing of experiences and practices. We want to change and exchange experiences, knowledge, improve skills and develop attitudes on how to be more competent to prevent A.S.E from alcohol misuse. Activities include daily reflection, evaluation and debriefing of sessions, guest/expert input on the topic (from Police and Med expert on alcohol A.S.E), activities with pupils from high school and special school. Also we will have ongoing collaborative sessions for creating common partnership final products (adverts, message videos, video, photoalbum, website, banner, non formal ideas, campaign), intercultural evening, teamwork (orientation, teambuilding, treasure hunt), and recreational time together (movie time, evening games, dance etc). What we want to achieve: To -support youths and in general all people to think seriously before consuming alcohol and think of it's A.S.E -train and inform youths that alcohol work against their vision for personal and professional development -help youths to be more concerned about how Prevention can support them and in some cases save them from A.S.E. The objectives of the project are: 1)To promote and support safe, pleasant learning environment based on NF methods for youths with fewer opportunities 2)To increase awareness on alcohol side effects and misuse through NFL and experiential learning 3)To explore and understand the power intercultural understanding and dialogue for tackling global problems as alcohol misuse 4)To create tangible and intangible results directly from youths for the youths, but for their NGOs too, irrespective their background (religion, social, financial and educational level) 5)To support youths and leaders to develop their competences and be certified with a youthpass.
