This project will tackle very important topics: Wastes, climate change and sustainability. People around the world are starting to understand that we have only one planet and if we don't start NOW to change our behaviour we are going straight to the disaster. Amongst the people who are leading the movement, there are adults but also young people. It started from a girl from Sweden and it became a very important mouvement. In Belgium since the end of 2018 there were a lot of demonstrations gathering sometimes more than 50 000 people and then youngsters decided to show their voice every Thursday to protest against politicians and their absence of actions for climate change. This showed that there are a lot of people who are ready to do a step in the direction of sustainable development. (Young) People have a lot of good will but not always concrete idea of what to do, some of them doesn't have the keys to make a step in this direction. This project will be a very good opportunity for them to learn few things. By focusing on upcycling we want to highlight topics such as the environment and sustainable development. We want through manual activities raise awareness on the importance of switching from a linear model of production (Production/distribution/consumption/wastes: society of consumption) to a circular model that doesn’t stop after wastes. We want to talk about circular economy which includes the ideas of reuse, repair, upcycling & recycling. We want to show what we can gain as a person, as a community by following this model and what will be the impact on the environment, society and planet. Following this model we will have a positive economical, environmental and social impact. Some terms such as sustainability, upcycling, eco-conception, critical consumption are becoming part of our vocabulary but still a lot of people have no idea what they mean. Even though the thematic of environment and sustainability have become a very important subject for both EU and UN. This project will address these concepts This project will help us also to share what is happening in the countries that will participate to the YE, what are the good initiatives and maybe some people will be inspired to implement these initiative in their own country. We want also to share our experience on the topic and show what useful items it is possible to create with wastes. We believe that if young people from different countries, culture, background keep meeting around this kind of project and keep exchanging ideas, initiatives and experience, their behavior, the behavior of people around them and then the behavior of people from their country will change faster, have a positive impact and will help us to reach easilier the sustainable development. Why manual activities? it is important for us to include everyone and these activities allow every young people to take part to this project even if they don’t speak well english. The activities have be chosen to give the opportunities to these youngsters to express their feeling, their thoughts, their knowledge with other means that their words. The YE has been dealt with as a learning experience for young participants with a clear plan of learning process: reflection groups, evaluations in each day, learning goals and mobilization of the young participants active participation, creativity and challenge. Project: YE in Cyprus 9 days The main aim of this project is to raise awareness about sustainability&Wastes, on how to reduce it but also to give some ideas on what to do with it. We hope that at the end of the project, participants would take few steps in the direction of sustainability. As we said before sustainability is also about economy. So we will show to participants that sustainable development is also job-creating and upclycing can become a professional activity. Finally, this project will be an opportunity for young people with fewer opportunities to do a first mobility. The specifics objectives are: Promote Intercultural diversity and linguistic learning; Promote mobility opportunities for education and employment; Promote sustainable lifestyle as an opportunity for employment; Develop better understanding of the concepts link to the topic; Be aware of what is happening in its own country but also in other countries ;Reflexion about his/her own behavior and what can be changed; Increase the awareness among young people on the topic, promote interculural dialogue, tolerance, respect.
