The largest group of participants were teachers of English and German. The aim of this group of teachers was to increase the qualification of teachers, diversify foreign language teaching and improve the knowledge of pupils with new teaching methods. Another aim was to introduce the CLIL method into the teaching of literature and basic social studies, together with more intensive use of IT technologies in teaching across subjects and grades. The aim of the shadowing activity was to gain new experience with teaching similar subjects abroad, to learn more about the school system, assessment methods, the use of teaching aids, and school equipment, or to compare the language level of our pupils with those abroad. We wanted to increase interest in studying at our school. The high-quality dissemination of the project results helped the public perception of the school as a progressive and European institution.
In the past, our school has participated in an eTwinning project and also in a larger joint project with other schools from abroad. However, we wanted to focus more on supporting our teachers and their continuing education and thus increase the quality of teaching across the institution. Visiting other schools abroad and sharing experiences and good practices with each other was also important goal for us. Thanks to the financial support from the Erasmus+ programme, these placements can be carried out on a larger scale than if the language course or the trip to Portugal were to be largely paid for by the participant themselves or with minimal support from the school.
