Background

The aim of the project "A Unique World of Wood" was to increase the school prestige and its attractiveness for both present and future pupils and increase efficiency of education. In this way we wanted to support our pupils chance to succeed in the regional and international labour market. The concrete purpose was to assure the high quality of practical educational process and education of Design and Wood processing studies pupils above standard, improve their professional and language competences, and increase their study and job qualifications necessary for the participation in the international labour market. The project was unique because there was no similar mobility for this field of study organized yet. Particularly it was focused on competences which couldn´d be possible to develop in our conditions or it was financially unfeasible. Unique was primarily the possibility to learn both at the same time traditional technologies (for Lithuanian typical decorating of furniture with small carvings of plant ornaments, religious motives, sun motives, furniture restoration) and current trends in the sphere of craftsmanship wood processing (top-equipped workshops of partner organization, contemporary design).
