Objectives

The main goal is to increase the attractiveness of vocational education, our school, and food technology taught at our school. We expected to achieve this through the implementation of foreign job mobility for our pupils and students. The possibility of these internships is perceived as motivating both when starting school and in study efforts. We increase the quality and timeliness of teaching and education by implementing practical experience that our teachers gained while shadowing at workplaces in foreign companies. Thanks to the professional development our teachers had the opportunity to get acquainted with the practice abroad and were able to compare it with the procedures at home. We perceived the workshops and seminars led by our foreign partners at the school as beneficial and motivational. The visit of our foreign partners was the culmination of our established cooperation with an Italian company. Deepening cooperation and sustainable development of this cooperation is another goal of our project. An important goal is to evaluate the outcomes of internships. We apply ECVET for the evaluation of internships and the fulfilment of ULOs is a requirement to pass a practical school-leaving examination.

Background

We decided to apply for this project for several reasons defined as priorities in the School Action Plan and based on the Strategic Framework for European Cooperation. We mainly tried to increase interest in the fields of our vocational school - food industry. Due to the declining interest in vocational education, we perceive Erasmus + VET projects as irreplaceable for vocational education prestige increase. Having implemented our past projects we learned that the internships increase attractiveness of the school. According to the regular self-evaluation, 68% of the school students perceived the internship abroad as one of the motives to study at our school. Another reason is the effort to increase the quality and efficiency of our teaching by our teachers' shadowing in partner companies, by specialists' workshops in our school, and by ECVET application. Internships help to open the door for students and graduates to the foreign labour market, support foreign labour mobility and enable the establishment of work and personal contacts. Many trainees maintain these contacts and use them for their their summer jobs or even employment. The advantage of a foreign internship for domestic employers is also important.
