Objectives

The aim of the project was to enable the interns to acquire the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for quality performance of intercultural nursing care. To work faster in future workplaces within the European labor market thanks to new knowledge and skills in the field of e-nursing, the use of the widest possible spectrum of nursing care aids and knowledge and skills in the field of the health care system and health education in the countries our neighbors. We also aimed at obtaining desirable attitudes within the framework of intercultural nursing care, when we primarily worked with prejudices against migrants and minorities. For this purpose, it was necessary to empathize with these population groups, understand their culture and respect traditions and customs in social interaction in order to prevent misunderstandings with patients.

Background

We submitted our proposal due to the need to cope in nursing care with the ever-increasing numbers of migrant patients, which, given the current refugee crisis, not only in connection with the Ukraine war, turned out to be a very progressive position. The Ukrainian minority and access to it was one of the frequent topics of presentations by our pupils and students in partner schools. Another reason was the constantly changing portfolio of nursing care aids, which was significantly affected by the covid-19 pandemic and the economic downturn caused by the war in Ukraine. Pupils/students of nursing must be prepared to work with the widest possible spectrum of aids used in various healthcare facilities with very different financial possibilities that influence their choice. The transition from paper communication and documentation to electronic forms has accelerated during the covid-19 pandemic. At this point too, the project was based on the correct assumption of the need to exchange skills and experience in the field of IT use in nursing care. Knowledge of the healthcare system and education is essential for assessing the interns' own options when transferring to a foreign healthcare school or applying to the EU labor market.
