Objectives

„Advocates of Change” is a Youth Exchange project organized by organization “Four Links” from Czech Republic. Main Youth Exchange are planned to take place at 02‐11.08.2019 in Pocuvadlianske jazero, Slovakia. Participating countries: Slovakia (SK), Lithuania (LT), Hungary (HU), Czech Republic (CZ) Human rights, democracy and the rule of law principle are some of the European Union's core values. The right of all individuals to equality before the law and to protection from discrimination is a fundamental principle of all democratic societies. The tolerance and human rights not only in our country but also in all Europe becomes one of the most important topic. In the last period, when we have many frequent attacks on terrorist or just mass killings/murders, society no longer feels safe, people become suspicious and often do not try to understand different from themselves. We did a survey in our city Brno (2018), 137 young people aged between 16 to 22 were asked about tolerance and discrimination. According to the results, that more than half of youth do not accept people of different skin color / ethnic origin / religion or belief / age / sexual orientation and have been discriminated by teenagers because of different behavior, religion, ideas, clothes and etc., almost half have prejudices about migrants and refugees and just one-fifth have positive attitude according to them. As we, Czechs, found out that we have a low level of tolerance in our community, we decided to be interested and ask about the youth situation in our friends’ communities. Friends from HU have organized discussion (in November, 2018) on tolerance topic with its organisation’s members and noticed that youth have prejudices about people of different skin color, ethnic origin, religion or different behave. They do not try to understand others and avoid contact with them. Partners from SK organized meetings (in December, 2018) with youngsters and found out that they do not feel self-confident, because feel discriminated by other teenagers at school. Some of youth do not understand their own actions even for other it looks like discrimination. Partners from LT organized a survey (in November, 2018) and found out that youth in their community need deeper understanding about tolerance and respect human rights. Also, that not only the minorities but also refugees do not feel safe and accepted in their country. According to them: „refugees already had come together that they face rejection and discrimination, and the intolerance every day“. After we made analysis in our and our friends’ communities, we clearly seen the need to search for solutions to this problem. Youth who understand their rights are also aware of rights of the others and for this reason they need to learn tolerance and acceptance. We believe that this project can help young people to be more tolerant, understand that everyone of us is equal despite our differences, know more about their rights, which will help them to deal with conflicts without violence, find solutions to difficult situations, set and obey the rules of communication among peers and build their self-esteem as well as respect others. We decided to implement YE in our partner's country (SK) because youth from CZ and SK want to strengthen collaboration by mobilizing joint capacities for implementing initiatives for youth – Erasmus+ project. Aim: To promote tolerance and respect for human rights for 56 young people, 8 group leaders, 2 facilitators, and at the same time to increase social inclusion of 24 participants with fewer opportunities (economic and social obstacles) 02‐11.08.2019 in Pocuvadlianske jazero, Slovakia. Objectives: To raise awareness about the concepts of tolerance and human rights, the intolerance situation in 4 different communities for 56 young people until the end of the project. To encourage 56 young people to raise their voices for their own rights as well as for those of others, perceive the power and importance of tolerance and respect for human rights through non-formal learning methods until the end of the project. Our objectives specifically target and linked to Erasmus+ objectives of: 1.
