The two-year Grafein Education project is focused on Graphics Design, Informational Technology studies, and consequently on the general public. It is a project of a strategic partnership in the programme Erasmus+ KA2, the cooperation of three vocational schools from the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Portugal. The aim of the project is to broaden the schools' professional curriculums about art techniques, which are not taught at the schools, through the widening of students' general knowledge of art techniques and by this step to create publications: “Artist's workbook of (chosen) graphics technique” and the video-manuals of these techniques The introduced and taught techniques will be chosen individually by each school at the beginning of the project. The techniques will be e.g.: intaglio printing, wax printing, mug printing, serigraphy, dry needle, linocut, stucco lustro etc. The outputs of the project will be workbooks and video-manuals which will help learners (or potential candidates) to learn and extend new graphics techniques in the frame of their studies or courses and help them to experience the possibility how to introduce and make their field of studies more visible. In addition, the project helps the students to improve their communicative English and interpersonal skills. The target group is the second and third year students of vocational and professional secondary schools from Nový Jičín, the Czech Republic, studying three-year long vocational Graphic Design field, students of the secondary professional Art school from Žilina, the Slovak Republic, and students of the secondary professional Art school from Porto, Portugal. After the end of the project, we would like to introduce and teach the obtained art techniques to the general public of each country through the art/design courses and implement newly learnt techniques into the schools' curriculums. During the project students will work on the following activities under the tutelage of professional teachers: The graphic's technique introduction, Artist's Workbooks, Video-manuals of the individual techniques, Individual country presentation, School presentation, Logo creation, Web-page creation, Students' Works Exhibition. These activities are necessary to be carried out transnationally because they help students to develop and strengthen their knowledge, skills and competencies, not just in the professional field, but they will be able to extend, practice and compare their art and IT skills, use their own creativity and learn more about studies abroad.
By implementing of the project we wanted to show the field of studies of Graphics Design and Information Technologies both participated and not-participated but co-operated students more useful and attractive. We wanted to show them that the studying period is not just about studies but mainly about practising and conversion a theory into the practice. The really important aim of the project was to enthuse the students to be a part of an international team which will work on collective work, learn new graphics techiques, communicate and invent new designs and possibilities at a graphics world. To let them work independently but under a gentle leading of professional teachers. We wanted them to get more self-confidence and courage to present their work. The subsequent aim was to show and introduce to all three schools´ (participants of the project) employees and public how nice and beautiful and useful it is to work in an international team and to present finals works at the exhibition being held at the last project meeting. To obtatin and widen the professional graphiscs and IT skills were a necessary part of the project. Naturally we wanted to show that our schools are really active at their education and work.
This project was focused on students of Graphics Design and Information Technologies. By this project we wanted to make studies for the students more attractive and we wanted to introduce them and teach new techniques, technologies and methods which they are not taught at their schools. We wanted them to be more free, independent and self-confident at their studies and widen their professional knowledge. Aditionally we wanted to present and introduce these field of studies to the public and consequently to start courses of graphics techniques for them. Another point of running of this project was to teach students how to work in international teams, to communicate in another than native language, as the main language of the project was English. Next reason of running the project both for students and teachers was to be well oriented in multicultural society, to understand necessity of being a part of European Union. The last but not the least aim of the project was to broaden the schools´professional curriculums about art techniques which are not taught at the schools and to get some inspirations for future innovations.
