Project summary

Five secondary schools will be involved in the "Girls with boys programming Europe" project. The main coordinator will be Mendel High School in Nový Jičín (Czech Republic), which consists of three main parts (economic, ICT and health care) and has extensive experience with the organization of Comenius, Leonardo and Erasmus + projects. In programming, it deals mainly with algorithmization, programming in Visual Basic and starts with modeling and 3D printing. As partners, these schools will participate: 1) Agrupamento de Escolas Dr. Serafim Leite in S. João da Madeira (Portugal) 2) Fjolbrautaskoli Nordurlands vestra (Island) 3) IES Playmar (Spain) 4) Istituto d'Istruzione Superiore "G. Peano - C. Rosa" (Italy) The main objective of the project is to increase the level of skills and competences in the field of ICT (especially algorithmization, programming and new trends in 3D modeling and printing), which help to increase their qualification, facilitate their job position on the labor market (demand for programmers is constantly growing). Equally important goal of the project is to involve more girls in this area (in order to balance the powers and add the missing view of the given gender issue). The analysis of schools also implies the need to teach students logical thinking, problem analysis, finding solutions and decision-making. Students' language skills will also be strengthened - especially the addition of technical English vocabulary and communication skills when working in international groups. For teachers, the sharing of experience (teaching methods, comparison of software and technical equipment advantages, funding options) will be a major contribution, as each participating organization is specialized in programming and modeling in a different programming language and uses other technical means. We do not just want to attract students to computers, also an understanding of the region's cultural, social and school environment and sports activities for students will be an integral part of international activities. We want to disseminate and provide the results of the project to other interested parties from schools and the public through a programming and modeling brochure, as well as workshops, of which? there will be at least 6 during the duration of the project and will take place at the schools of the individual project participants. Within the two-year project, five project meetings (each in another country) with short-term student stays will take place. Two teachers and four students (at least two girls) of secondary schools will take part in the international meetings. The first meeting (November 2018) will take place at the project coordinator's school. The main focus will be on algorithmization, programming in Visual Basic and the creation of JA's 3D logos from the school. The second meeting will be in Torremolinos, Spain (March 2020). This school uses a 3D scanner to learn and teaches to program in C ++. This workshop is scheduled to create and print a 3D logo of the project. When searching for an E-twinning partner, we have addressed an Icelandic school with experience with the Python programming language, algorithms and design. The meeting will take place in October 2020. We have a long-term cooperation with the school in Portugal. This school excels in lego robot programming and 3D printing. Students and teachers will certainly appreciate the knowledge and experience of the Java program (February 2021meeting date). The last meeting will take place in Italian Nereto (May 2021), All participants will be involved in TEL to experiment with innovative learning / learning environments. The project coordinator plans to monitor ICT education (especially programming, 3D modeling) by all partners. At this meeting, we will also evaluate the project and prepare the final report. The coordinator and the partner schools signed a declaration of honor (see annexes), which demonstrate the enormous interest of partner schools in cooperation and reduces the risk of withdrawal from the project. Basic outputs of the project (brochure of basic commands and orientations in programming languages, English-national glossary of ICT concepts, 3D modules) will be published on the project website and eTwinning platform and will be shared by other schools and other institutions. Documentation of programming workshops, 3D printing and international meetings will be stored in the moodle e-learning environment. We would like to follow up with another project on the topic "Logical thinking for advanced programming" after completing this project. In recent years Portugal, Italy and Spain school has been involved in the formation of foreign individuals, in the national language, thus contributing to their integration in the community.

Final report summary

The main objective of the project was and is to increase the level of skills and competences in the field of ICT (especially algorithmization, programming and new trends in 3D modeling and printing), which help to increase their qualification, facilitate their job position on the labor market. The fulfillment of this goal is evidenced by the students' evaluation questionnaire.... Equally important goal of the project was to involve more girls in this area (in order to balance the powers and add the missing view of the given gender issue). International meetings (even despite the problems with Covid) - 42 girls and boys took part in mobility. So x% of girls. Other girls and boys, but and teachers, were present at lectures, workshops, excursions and trips at the international meeting that took place in their home school and region. It was important for students to improve their logical thinking, to learn analyze problems, find suitable solutions using ICT and correctly choose the most suitable one. The individual examples of the brochure are used for this, so that students can practice the given subject matter with the help of practical tasks. The brochure is available on the website of the project http://girlsboysprogramming.eu/and on the websites of individual schools in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Icelandic, Czech and Italian versions. The booklet contains solved examples from the field of 3D modeling - the Tinkercad program (creating key rings, hollow cubes, project logo), SketchUp (chairs, wine glasses), Blender (color cube) programming in Visual Basic and Python (16 examples including branching, cycle, number generation), Java (use of forms - different ways of creating a calculator, voting in elections, BMI index), IFTTT application (own recipe, ISS), Inventor (greeting). The students' language skills were also strengthened - in particular, the addition of professional English vocabulary (a dictionary of ICT terms translated into 6 languages was created) and communication skills when working in international groups.Students' language skills was also be strengthened - especially the addition of technical English vocabulary and communication skills when working in international groups.
