Objectives

Our participants are apprentices in the field of automotive engineering. With the learning stay in Arnhem, they have been given the opportunity to get to know the international labour market and to gain professional experience abroad , to improve their knowledge from vocational training and to further their education. They were given the opportunity to strengthen and expand important key competences, such as their own professional competences, their digital skills, their foreign language skills, social and intercultural competences as well as job-related competences that are currently needed on the labour market. Self-confidence and independence should be strengthened and overall the trainees should gain new experiences for their personal lives. The cooperation between Rijn IJssel and our school on this basis is a building block that both institutions network and develop internationally and that proven methods of vocational education and training are exchanged. At the same time, the process of internationalization of our school should be continued as an integral part of our educational process.

Background

The mission statement of SBBS Technik stipulates that we see ourselves as a service provider for companies and partners for all persons and institutions involved in the educational process. Against this background, it was a logical conclusion for us to work as applicants for the Erasmus+ programme in order to enable interested trainees to spend time abroad as part of their vocational training, which is also legally regulated in the Vocational Training Act. We have seen it as our joint responsibility and task to make our contribution to bringing internationality into our vocational school, into training and into the training companies, which ultimately benefit from it because their training gains in attractiveness with this offer and corresponds to the zeitgeist. The establishment of companies from abroad and the export abroad are among the most important success factors for growth, prosperity and jobs and require an increasing internationalisation of the economy, which poses new challenges for current trainees and future skilled workers and which we must all take into account.
