Objectives

We send trainees from dual vocational training, usually from the second or third year of training. For these 18 to 20-year-old students, we offer the opportunity to add an international component to the well-founded and recognized training in Germany. The selected students are usually high school graduates in vocational training, or good secondary school students who are completing an apprenticeship in the dual system. In addition to technical ability and performance, we also pay particular attention to the social skills and initiative of the interns. As a result of the project, we expect that professional skills will be expanded to include the ability to work successfully with foreign colleagues in a foreign-language environment. The ability to integrate into an unfamiliar team and to communicate professionally also demonstrably improves the chances of trainees on the labor market, which is why it is an important goal of our project. In addition to the many new impressions and processes, there is also a significant increase in the self-confidence and self-esteem of our interns. (google translator)

Background

The cluster project for aerospace has its origins in 2007. BBS Rinteln is in contact with CFA Marcel Sembat in the Haute region through this project and the Lüneburg state school authority Normandy with its partner companies in Rouen in 2007. During mutual visits, an exchange was agreed, which was carried out successfully for the first time in 2008. After the positive results for the young trainees in applications to the first job market became noticeable, we decided to also start an exchange project with the Niedersächsische partner region Andalusia in southern Spain. In 2010, contact was established with the then I.E.S Antonio Salva in Palma del Rio, southern Spain. In 2012, a regular exchange of trainees was started and the project was thus expanded to include another European partner. After the BBS Rinteln had enabled a total of almost 160 trainees from the field of aircraft technology to do an internship abroad, other departments of our school decided to offer students an opportunity abroad. Contacts were established with schools in Denmark, Great Britain and Ireland. (google translator)
