Objectives

The target group for this project were the previosuly mentioned trainees and former trainees (training that ended no more than 12 months ago) at the HBS. These trainees should be given the opportunity to complete a four to six week internship in an Erasmus+ program country. The trainees were largely independent in their search for an internship and organizing the details of the internship. In this way, independence and self-organization skills were gained. During the internship, the aim was for the participants to acquire specialist knowledge and expand their linguistic and intercultural skills, which should further facilitate better communication with foreign colleagues and customers or clients in the future. In addition, the training companies/law firms, some of which operate internationally, promote the need for teaching foreign language skills and the internationalization of vocational training. Taking this into account with this project, the trainees can improve their chances on the job market by successfully completing an internship abroad.

Background

The Hans-Böckler-School (HBS) is a vocational school with more than 1,500 students. The students have the option of studying one of six professions (legal clerk, legal or notary clerk, tax clerk, administrative clerk, and real estate clerk), all of which are trained in the dual system. Many of the trainees also work for international companies or global law firms. As a partner in a dual vocational training, our school would like to contribute to increasing the degree of internationalisation in the dual vocational training of our students. We consider this important, as the professional and non-professional reality of our students' lives is changing in our globalized society, and dealing with foreign cultures as well as the confident command of foreign languages is becoming increasingly important.
