Background

People who cannot perform their present jobs after an illness or as a result of an accident anymore need a new perspective. The Berufsförderungswerk Köln gGmbH assists them in finding a new job perspective. Legally this is regulated by the social code IX. There is a scope of about 40 different professional trainings at BFW Köln. The participants are supported by "Reha-Teams", a team consisting of trainers as well as staff from our medical, social and psychological special services. In addition, students and teachers from Berufskolleg Michaelshoven (BK) were supposed to take part in our Erasmus programme. The BK trains different professions in the social and health sector (e.g. childcare workers, social assistants). Our project has followed other Erasmus projects from 2015, 2017 and 2018. In the frame of compulsory internships during their trainings, the mobilities for people with or without disabilities or health impairments contribute to a sucessful professional qualification by improving the language, intercultural and vocational skills of our participants. For our staff, the mobilities are also an important way to improve skills.
