The title of this project "Don't be afraid to work abroad: Measures for the internationalisation of trainees in the dual system of vocational education and training" reveals that the trainees at our school are to be made aware of the value of international contacts in their professional and private social environment and given the opportunity to gain initial experience in this direction. With this project, trainees in various professions in the fields of information technology, electrical engineering, plant mechanics and ideally also in the fields of media design and event technology were to be given the opportunity for company internships or stays at educational institutions abroad. Through this project, the positive experiences and competence gains should lead to an increased interest among future trainees and also be carried into the predominantly craft training companies, so that the processes of internationalisation are also recognised and appreciated there.
This project was carried out to prepare young people for both their future professional and private lives and to focus on the development of sustainability in a globalised world. The development plan for the Robert-Bosch-Berufskolleg envisages the expansion of student and trainee activities as well as teacher programmes in the area of internationalisation. Besides, the plan provides for an intensification of the good contacts already established with European educational institutions and new RBBK courses should be attracted to implement mobilities. New European educational institutions should be contacted and found to carry out job shadowings or further education courses. Thus an extended international network of schools and companies as well as the regular sending and hosting of students and trainees along with teachers at expert level can be formed and maintained.
