Objectives

In accordance with our school mission statement, quality improvement of learning was needed at our school. Overall, the participants in the project should: - Acquire or deepen skills and abilities in the use of digital media in the classroom - Learn about quality management in schools and develop recommendations for action for our school. - Design strategies for dealing with heterogeneous learning groups. - Increase the quality of their own teaching, and serve as multipliers for the teaching staff. - Lay the foundations for international cooperation in the field of Erasmus+ and initiate future student and teacher exchanges All in all, we hoped for a quality leap in the pedagogical and school organizational work at our school.

Background

At the beginning, the lessons at our school were only slightly influenced by modern media. The technical equipment was subpar, and the colleagues’ readiness and overall ability to use the technology was very low. We wanted to change that. We saw it as our obligation to improve our know-how. This included the use of new media, which was very much in need of development. We wanted to learn how schools in other countries use new media, so that we could use this knowledge for our own quality development in the classroom. The colleagues to be sent should broaden their expertise and display new teaching and learning methods. We wanted to initiate future international projects. Students were to be prepared for demands of the digital global labor market. The concept of the EU and the benefits of international cooperation should be taught more intensively in order to educate and train students to become informed and engaged EU citizens. Linguistic competence in the world and media language English should also be developed. Since September 2018, our school has been teaching the new vocation of salespeople in E-Commerce. Teachers had to be qualified to develop new digital competencies themselves, and to convey them to the students.
