Objectives

21 trainees in the dual training system and vocational students, as well as 14 participants from the field of educational staff, were given the opportunity to gain new professional experience and to expand their skills and competences in an unfamiliar and new environment. People in the East Frisia region in particular are characterised by a high degree of professional flexibility and mobility. These two competences were to be promoted and strengthened by the stay abroad in order to increase their professional perspectives within and outside Germany. In addition, the participants expanded their foreign language skills during the stay and they got to know a new market and everyday life structure. These qualifications acquired abroad are an important prerequisite for the trainees and vocational students to increase their chances in the dual training system, both in the domestic German labour market and in the European labour market. The industrial-technical-professional sector is an important economic sector in the region that is very much dependent on the fact that in the future there will be greater mobility of all employees than in the past. At the same time, the ever-increasing internationalisation of the economy requires that staff deal with the cultural background of international business partners in order to better understand them. In this context, the willingness to learn foreign languages also plays a major role in order to establish the best possible communication between all participants. The additional learning need for the participants involved lay in the international and intercultural orientation of the project. With regard to the professional development of the participants, getting to know international and country-specific working conditions and working techniques and gaining an insight into international management can be seen as an excellent additional qualification for the training.

Background

BBS2 Leer pursued various goals in implementing the project. On the one hand, the quality of in-company and school training in the structurally expandable region of East Frisia was to be improved, the methods, especially the technical and social competences of the trainees and vocational students were to be increased and the discovery of existential resources was to be increased On the other hand, the promotion of the overall development of young people, accompanied by the strengthening of self-esteem and social, cultural and foreign language competences, was to be supported. The increasing globalisation and internationalisation of our society will pose great challenges to people and companies in the future, which will be further intensified by demographic change
