The consortium set three main goals for the project. Increased demands on employees but also on vocational training should be met with an expansion of key competencies. The internationalization of the labor market and internationally operating companies expect employees with a high level of professional knowledge, capacity to transform (professional) knowledge and skills into action, technical and verbal communication skills as well as foreign language skills. In addition to purely technical skills, however, vocational education and training is also committed to teaching social and democratic skills. Values such as respect for others, acceptance of different opinions and appreciation of diversity are essential for living and working together peacefully and productively and can best be developed and experienced in mobility projects. The third goal focused on strengthening the European profile and the European idea in schools. The attractiveness of the school locations should be increased through internationalization and commitment at the European level and, in concrete terms, through the exchange of experience with vocational training staff from other European countries.
In Saxony, the State Authority for Schools and Education is responsible, among other things, for international educational cooperation between schools and for the political and intercultural education of learners and teachers. At the time of application as well as today, the current political mood in Saxony shows a need for action in this area. By forming a consortium, teaching staff and learners from vocational schools throughout Saxony were given the opportunity to participate in European mobility projects. Through the inclusion in the consortium, the application and implementation of such projects was significantly facilitated for the participating schools.
