The main objective of the HoME project is to build, through a solid partnership between vocational schools in Germany and offices of the Italian Chambers of Commerce in Europe with its business networks in IT, ES, PT and GR, a bridge between education and labor market in Europe to support and enhance international mobility. Among the long term goals is, on the one hand, to build a transnational sustainable network, to support the mobility of learners in vocational education and training. As well as strengthening the cooperation of the Italian Chambers of Commerce in Europe and the joint promotion of vocational training in order to create additional quality, effectiveness and efficiency. The partner organizations each aim to expand and improve their own portfolio of international education and training programs and to establish cooperation opportunities between educational institutions and selected European companies. The medium-term goals include improving the learning process and motivation of participating learners through the acquisition of international work experience, foreign language skills, and professional competencies.
According to the EU Commission, people need to possess a variety of skills to gain a foothold in the labor market. By offering mobility, HoME aims to contribute to the internationalization of vocational training and to the transition from school to the labor market in a positive way. From the experience of past mobility projects, the participating institutions have identified the lack of a public-private network to provide support. To address this, the partner organizations have joined forces to build a sustainable network between different actors in Europe with the common goal to expand and improve the offer for learners to gain (work) experience abroad. Especially apprentices in the field of gastronomy and hotel business are in direct contact with customers. Knowledge of other cultures and the ability to communicate with them are fundamental to good service. In order to better prepare the trainees, who are the skilled workers of the future, for the often international working world and to strengthen their understanding of the European Community, the partners have launched the HoME project.
