Students participating in the project were able to promote several areas of competence. The language course, the internship in a local company as well as accomodation in host families and the resulting contact to numerous native speakers promoted language competence as well as intercultural and personal competence. Participants were able to gain insight into the international world of work, got to know a new working culture and were able to compare it with their own culture. This also strengthened the European awareness of the participants. Our teachers‘ project in Ireland intended to improve teachers’ language skills and enabled them to use the foreign language through practical work experience. Another goal was to establish contacts for future projects in English-speaking countries. In South Tyrol the mobility aimed to deepen the existing school partnership even further. In the areas of quality management as well as new ways of designing classes at the partner school, significant new insight could be reached.
The Werner-von-Siemens Vocational School in Cham cooperates successfully with partners in several European countries and wants to advance its international development. The aim is to achieve a better understanding of the education systems, working methods, cultures and attitudes of life in other European countries. Teachers and students can continue to become „European citizens“ and expand their intercultural competence. Having a look at the working methods of educational institutions and companies abroad should help to broaden one’s own horizon and to further improve the quality of training at our school. International cooperation at our school and the global world of work in training companies also require the improvement of language skills of teachers and students.
