Objectives

The aim of the project was to support young people who were disadvantaged by international mobility in their vocational training and to motivate them in the long term in order to avoid dropping out of training. The strengthening of self-confidence as well as the recognition and expansion of one's own skills played an important role. At the same time, teachers should be given the opportunity to familiarize themselves with international standards in order to accompany the trainees on this path. Getting to know structures in the European framework was aimed at expanding one's own teaching practice and also showing the teachers the possibility of international work assignments.

Background

The aim of the project is to support disadvantaged young people in their vocational training through international mobility and to motivate them in the long term, as well as to avoid dropping out of training. The strengthening of self-confidence as well as the recognition and expansion of one's own skills play an important role. Participants in the “We are Europe too” project are trainees in a two-year, full-time school course to become social assistants, who come from socially disadvantaged families, often with a migration background. Getting to know structures in the European context leads to an expansion of one's own teaching practice and also shows the teachers the possibility of an international assignment. The internship abroad offers the disadvantaged young people of our school a special opportunity to gain self-awareness and thus lasting motivation in their professional environment. It will help to increase the participants' willingness to be mobile, improve their chances on the job market and reduce premature dropouts.
