As part of the internships in other European countries, the participants should expand their professional, linguistic, intercultural and social skills and competencies - and by looking beyond their own noses and consciously breaking out of their own comfort zone, strengthen their self-confidence, learn to change perspectives and as a source of their own understand professional and holistic growth. The insights into everyday working life and dealing with clients and patients, applied methods and their implementation should broaden one's own professional horizon, strengthen empathy and reflect on one's own professional and professional actions. For the vocational school of the Johanniter-Akademie and the practical facilities, the extended skills of the participating trainees offer a valuable qualification for independent and self-confident acting students and employees.
Since 2017, a two-week internship in another European country has been a mandatory part of the vocational training at the Johanniter-Akademie Mitteldeutschland Campus Leipzig - the specialist staff at the vocational school have been taking part in regular learning trips to Europe as part of Erasmus+ since 2014. The experiences gained within the framework of Erasmus+, the professional, social, linguistic and intercultural gain are clearly recognizable for the individual participants and are used for the professional and intercultural further development of the vocational school at all levels of the institution - in a further step, the practical institutions benefit from the social - and health sector in the region of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia through this European qualification of their employees. Last but not least, the Johanniter-Akademie MD with its Erasmus+ activities is clearly committed to the European idea and the idea of international understanding and peaceful coexistence and thus corresponds to the overall concept of the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V.
