Erasmus+, the plus of the Berufsfachschule für Kinderpflege Krumbach - Our goals: + Getting to know other educational institutions of early childhood education. + Getting to know other educational paths in the field of early childhood education + Trying out your own personal, social and professional skills in foreign contexts + Active confrontation with other cultures (educational system, everyday life, ...) + Conscious perception of art and culture + Acquisition of personal experience abroad + Development/establishment of international contacts + Strengthen media competence (create a film about mobility and design a collage) In addition to the goal of acquiring personal experience abroad, we are/were also interested in having participants gain experience with us as a host institution. We have already been able to realize this goal several times with our partner Finland/Kuopio. An Erasmus+ exchange with our partner Austria/Pressbaum was initiated ("Letter of Intent") and signed during this project period. A preparatory visit took place in July 2019 and we were able to welcome a first trainee in Krumbach already in the same year. We hope with a steadily growing exchange after the Corona pandemic.
We carried out the project in order to strengthen the quality of vocational training for our learners and our training staff through work-based learning. For this purpose, we were supported by long-term partners in other European countries. Internationalization is an important part of our school development and our understanding of quality. We wanted our students to be able to compare and evaluate differences in educational plans and priorities in early childhood education. By supporting children in everyday and educational situations abroad in a culturally sensitive way, our students acquired intercultural competence. Only a prejudice-conscious handling of children from other cultures can do justice to the current changes in day care centers. Getting to know pedagogical working methods and concepts abroad should enable our educational staff to develop intercultural expertise and professionalism. The quality of teaching will be improved in the long term and relevant topics can be taught in a more vivid, authentic and tangible way. In addition, a culturally sensitive/emphatic approach to learners or children with a migration background is easier.
