Objectives

Trainees in occupational therapy and geriatric care should be given the opportunity to complete a three to five-week internship after the first year of training in another EU country. The coordinating institution ATS-BBS III Celle - Europaschule, in cooperation with the Catholic technical school Elisabeth-von-Rantzau-Schule from Hildesheim, wanted to send around thirty students from the technical school for social pedagogy per school year, for about 10 weeks. They too should be able to complete part of the practical training in other European countries. All mobilities should get to know the training for their profession and work with clients in a foreign country, break down fears of contact and find out how cultural conditions affect their work, communication, choice of methods, and dealing with each other on clients and employees. To do this, they should get to know and grasp work concepts, communication channels and means, space and material offers and try them out.

Background

In the training areas of nursing care for the elderly, ergotherapy and social pedagogy, the trainees should again have the opportunity to gain practical experience in other EU countries. As a European school, we are interested in broadening the horizons of our learners and that they, as European citizens, learn to live the European idea and link it with positive experiences. We are convinced that trainees who gain practical work experience and cultural impressions abroad are more open to accepting new challenges and will contribute to preserving the idea of peace in Europe. In addition, experience has shown that the mobilities develop their personality enormously and gain independence and self-confidence, which has a positive effect on their communication skills. Other goals of the project for us are to improve the quality of the respective training courses, to show our trainees and students a Europe that offers them interesting cultural and professional opportunities. A diversity should be experienced that you won't find here in the rural area of the district of Celle.
