The FLS wanted to offer its trainees the opportunity to gain practical experience in other European countries and to expand their language skills during their initial vocational training. The participants should get to know the organizational structures and processes in European (partner) companies and should contribute or expand the knowledge and skills they have already acquired during their training. They should try out the English skills they learned at school and experience that they carry both written and spoken. At work and in dealing with colleagues, they should act with increasing confidence in the foreign language and expand their vocabulary and improve their expression. The stay should encourage the participants in their independence and enable them to find their way in foreign countries, cities and companies. They should break down any reservations they may have about other cultures through personal contacts and contribute to living the European idea.
The Friedrich-List-Schule, 23554 Lübeck, has been running Erasmus projects together with the Finnish Bruhn Spedition Oy, 00980 Helsinki for years. Due to the consistently positive feedback from the participants, the FLS wanted to offer its trainees the opportunity in this application round to gain practical experience in other European countries and expand their language skills even during their initial vocational training. In addition, the participants, who have often never traveled abroad independently, should live the European idea through the internship and, in times of increasing xenophobia, be open to other people and their cultures and gain independence. The project was tailored to the trainees from the commercial areas. By participating in the project, the trainees should represent the FLS as a competent partner in dual training. The receiving institutions were mainly forwarding companies in the Baltic Sea region, with which the FLS wanted to establish closer contacts in order to sharpen its profile as a European school.
