Objectives

The main purpose of the project was to enable the beneficiaries to spend time abroad, which would give them the opportunity to develop their language skills, intercultural skills and ultimately their professional perspective, so that they could move competently and successfully in the European labor market. In addition, the project is designed to enable participants to boost their self-confidence and increase their confidence in their own abilities and to consolidate both personal and professional goals. Furthermore, living and working abroad requires a high degree of independence, flexibility, ability to act and openness towards new things. These soft skills are already promoted during the education at the Dr. Buhmann School and can be applied and intensively deepened during an internship abroad. In addition, the cooperation between educational institutions and European companies was to be expanded. The Dr. Buhmann School attaches great importance to an international network from which the participants can benefit in the long term.

Background

The beneficiaries complete the stay abroad as an integral part of their training to become a certified business administrator. They have previously acquired a university entrance qualification and completed a two-year training program as commercial assistants, specializing in foreign languages and correspondence. The training concept of the Dr. Buhmann School is based on both business administration training and the consolidation of at least two foreign languages, and an internship is a mandatory part of the training to become a Certified Business Administrator. An internship abroad meets the training concept and a corresponding acquisition of competencies is extremely beneficial and profitable for the participants and their employability. The beneficiaries are given the opportunity to develop their language skills by communicating privately and professionally in the respective language of the country and thus significantly improve their language level. In addition, the focus is on fostering their commercial skills and applying theoretical content. Their intercultural competence is also to be strengthened by living and working abroad and thus in a different cultural environment.
