The project "proDISCO V - Discover Your Key Qualifications in Europe" aimed to enable trainees, in particular with less favorable qualifications, to participate in job-related stays abroad in order to improve their chances of placement on the German and European labor markets. The participants complete their initial vocational training in full-time school or in dual training and work in occupational fields in which international experience is often already a prerequisite for employment, such as in commercial occupations or in the service sector (hotel and catering). In addition, there are is an increasing number of applications from the crafts and social sector (education and health) as well as design professions (IT and media design). The aim was to enable them to develop intercultural skills and gain initial practical experience of working life through job-related stays abroad. In addition, the project offered the opportunity to promote job-related foreign language skills. The international work experience was intended to increase their chances of placement in a job, develop independence and strengthen their own personality.
The starting point of the project "proDISCO V - Discover Your Key Qualifications in Europe" was the realization that there are widespread reservations, especially among young people in rural regions, about leaving their traditional environment and that additional support is needed to promote the participation of this target group in transnational mobility projects. This is especially true for young people from disadvantaged social backgrounds and young people with a migration background, who often have little experience abroad.
