Objectives

In the field of vocational preparation, we wanted to initiate internships for young adults in order to enable them to try out their first jobs and to strengthen or review their career aspirations. A second goal consisted of the visualization and acquisition of social and personal skills. The special situation of a professional trial abroad should enable young adults to (self-)observe and as a result let their experiences flow into their professional self-positioning and an eventual application process. The trainees should be given the opportunity to get to know training-specific content in practical work by completing internships. The secondment of our training staff should promote the willingness to undergo further training. For the educational staff, there should be an increase in competence for their content-related work as well as on a personal and social level. The confrontation with new pedagogical ideas and areas of work should help to question one's own work. Greater motivation and curiosity about professional mobility projects should give a more credible impression of the benefits of professional mobility when working with our clientele.

Background

Within the framework of the European development plan of our organization „Werk-statt-Schule e.V.“, the MobiLE project wants to promote professional mobility for learners as well as qualification and willingness of educational staff to undergo further training. Learners who struggle with multiple social disadvantages are given the opportunity to acquire important social and personal skills such as teamwork, initiative and willingness to learn or to make those skills visible. Experiencing new possibilities but also reflecting on one's own limits, forms an important foundation for the (further) development of a professional self-image. For the educational staff, job shadowing is intended to set new professional stimuli and provide impulses for professional training (languages, subject-specific content) that will benefit personal and professional development. A major Goal is to strengthen awareness of the special nature of European unity. The historical advantages of freedom of movement for European citizens should become their own experience and help to strengthen Europe against re-nationalization tendencies and populist currents.
