Objectives

The overall aim of the project was to see Europe as a place of learning for the further development of one's own work and education. The specific objectives were: - Promoting the competences and knowledge of the staff (raising awareness of Europe as a place to live and work; increasing intercultural competences; promoting professional competences by providing information on current and innovative developments and applied methods abroad and taking these up in their own work; promoting access for disadvantaged students and promoting mobility, especially for disadvantaged target groups) - Promotion of participants' competences (vocational education / training) (Labour market relevant competences: Intercultural competences, flexibility, willingness to be mobile; Personal competences: self-confidence, independence, openness). - Promoting the competences of 'disadvantaged' participants (Special focus on personal competences such as self-confidence, independence, openness, as well as labour market relevant competences such as intercultural competences, flexibility and willingness to be mobile.

Background

A dominant issue in Germany is the shortage of skilled workers. This is contrasted by unfilled training placements, premature training drop-outs and new demands on teaching practice, caused by more demanding occupations and a more heterogeneous student body. Intercultural competences, a high degree of flexibility and a willingness to be mobile are becoming increasingly important for employers. Experiences abroad promote competences such as flexibility and willingness to be mobile for and in one's job, both of which are increasingly demanded by the labour market. The declared goal of IB Süd was and is to give our participants the best possible opportunities to integrate successfully into the labour market through a needs-based education. This needs-based education includes learning the skills and competences necessary for the progressive internationalisation of the world of work. And mobility can make a decisive contribution to promoting these very competences, both at the level of the vocational training staff and the participants.
