The "KulTour in Europa 2" project built on the successes of the first two years of the project. First of all, the European partnerships should be expanded and intensified at the institutional level in order to create ideal framework conditions for European mobilities. Together with the European partners, offers of cultural adult education should then be further developed and enriched with impulses and ideas from the partner countries. The Baden-Württemberg partners, for example, had development potential in the field of cultural education for people with disabilities and for seniors, while the European partners had some attractive offers in their program. In addition, in the project KulTour in Europa II, concepts should be developed that also enable course participants from cultural education to have a personal, European encounter. The long-term goal was to firmly anchor European projects and encounters in the cultural education offerings of the project partners, both for educational staff and for participants, and thus not only to promote international artistic exchange, but also to strengthen personal identification with Europe.
This project followed the successful ERASMUS+ mobility project "KulTour in Europa", in which more than 40 employees from cultural adult education took part in mobilities abroad between 2017 and 2019. The starting point of this first project was a two-week ERASMUS+ mobility of 8 Finnish adult educators from the fields of fine arts and music, which the vhs-Verband (Adult Education Association) as the receiving institution organized and carried out with the help of the consortium partners of the present project. The Finns visited classes at the Oberes Nagoldtal Adult Education Center, the Filderstadt Music School and the Filderstadt Art School. On the one hand, the visit of the Finnish group made it clear to the German partners that cultural education has a completely different and greater importance in Finland than in Germany. On the other hand, it showed that culture is an important part of European identity and is suitable for making the European idea a holistic experience. Accordingly, it made sense to focus on cultural adult education in European mobility projects.
