Every adult should be offered the opportunity to learn in a high-quality and affordable way throughout life. In order to better address, advise and classify our international students, we need to further improve our active and passive language skills. This guarantees better and faster integration of refugees and people with a migration background. The further development of intercultural competence is a core task for our actions and interactions with participants as well as within the team, which increasingly take place in intercultural professional fields. Furthermore, we wanted to improve digital competence. The project goals were pursued at all levels of the institution by involving lecturers, management, pedagogical planners and the administration.
Due to the development of the metropolitan region of Munich and Upper Bavaria in general as well as to the considerable demands arising from the increasing number of migrants from Europe and refugees from areas in crisis – as currently especially from Ukraine – there is an urgent need for further training for staff in the Adult Education Centres of the consortium. In order to be able to address and advise our clients with a more international mindset, our staff and the institution as a whole must continue to internationalise and become more capable of acting interculturally. There is also a great need for further training in digitalisation, which has gained momentum due to the pandemic. In order to continue the sustainable development of the European Development Plan and to further professionalise ourselves with regard to languages, interculturality and digital development, internationalisation and encounters in intercultural environments will become the central task and aim in Adult Education Centres for the next few years. This does not only involve customer contact but the area of organisation and staff development as well.
