Objectives: What did you want to achieve with the project? For this project we have chosen the topic "Healthy children/adolescents - healthy future". Health is more than just being free from disease. According to the definition of the WHO, "health is a state of physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being". As children spend more and more time away from the family, day-care centers are becoming an important living space with essential fields of action. The focus is increasingly on health promotion and education. It is a learning process that aims to enable children to strengthen their health and to develop basic attitudes and habits for healthy behavior and to maintain them for as long as possible. Through organized educational processes, we impart knowledge and skills, illuminate social factors and create links to the environment. Our goal was to take a closer look at health education and promotion over a period of three years in Germany and abroad, and to incorporate the findings into the further development of educator training.
Background: Why did you undertake this project? As a private, state-approved and catholic training center, we offer alternatives to the public school system and pursue two basic goals: high-quality professional training and personal development. With our internships abroad, we focus on expanding practical specialist skills (skills, social and personal skills) and enable the prospective educators to gain international work experience during their training. Another goal is personality development and the promotion of mobility and flexibility. An internship abroad is intended to further develop the independence and self-confidence of our students. It was planned and organized that from the school year 2019/20 to 2021/22 around 35 students would complete an internship abroad every year. Due to Corona, no internships abroad could be carried out in the last two years (2020/21 and 2021/22). We tried everything, postponed the departure date from autumn to the summer months and then, after consultation with the host organisations, our school authority, the participants and their parents and the NABIBB, we decided not to do any internships abroad.
