The BGZ project is a contribution to strengthening the quality, attractiveness and future orientation of vocational education in Europe. The mobility project aimed to familiarize Berlin vocational training staff with good practices for dealing with innovations and digitization in initial and continuing training. In exchange with actors from other EU countries, they learned about new approaches and methodological concepts, innovative learning models, materials and ideas for implementation. The focus was on supporting the training staff in expanding their knowledge by successful competence transfer on warehouse, transport and information logistics technologies such as data glasses, interconnected transport platforms and digital waybills on the one hand and electronic patient records, technical innovations such as sensor mats with alarm function and control and routine activities in the healthcare sector on the other hand.
Digitisation is currently one of the greatest challenges in education and training. It is accompanied by requirements that go beyond pure technical knowledge. This applies not only to the ability to deal with technical innovations. Also, personal skills such as flexibility, teamwork and communication skills are required. Employees with knowledge of new technologies and digital skills are in demand in industry and increasingly in (craft) businesses. This requires an adaptation of the content in vocational training, the introduction of new methodology and didactics and also improved skills of teachers. On the basis of these current developments, we have identified in cooperation with our shareholders and partners specific needs for action in both the logistics and healthcare sectors. In both logistics and healthcare, digitisation is rapidly changing internal and external processes and thus posing new challenges for vocational training personnel.
