Objectives

The aim of the project was to give as many students as possible (40 mobilities) the opportunity to spend a month abroad. There were several targets to be achieved with the project, including increasing the participants' professional skills. They should gain professional knowledge in their training-specific professions. In addition, they will be able to deal with the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the respective host country (acquisition of intercultural competence). Particularly in the area of IT trainees, special emphasis was placed on promoting social skills. In order to make this possible, groups of around 10 trainees spend their exchange together in a group. After initial instruction, the participants should independently organize their day life on site (personal skills in the area of self-employment) Furthermore, the students should improve their language skills in English in practical use and acquire basic language skills in the national language.

Background

This project is a continuous part of the internationalization strategy of our vocational college. As such, it is module to promote the international experience of our students/trainees. The students are given the opportunity to gain practical experience in their professional sector. These stays abroad are in companies and educational institutions carried out by the EU. The students thus also recognize the European dimension when choosing a job. Professional experience abroad is an important additional qualification for prospective skilled workers, especially in the IT and media sector. The stay abroad also improves the use of English as a "technical language" in the IT and media environment.
