Objectives

With our project, we wanted to make cultural diversity tangible and thereby strengthen the participants' intercultural competence, which is essential in today's globalized working world. We also set ourselves the goal of increasingly preparing the participants for a digitized working world. The participating teachers were also to use the mobilities for international networking and the expansion of cooperations. The implemented project should contribute to an increase in the attractiveness of vocational education at BS 2, as the qualifications acquired with the mobility will increase the competitiveness of our students on the labor market. The projects at BS 2 should also serve as a stimulus and springboard for students to pursue further education and training with an international focus. Last but not least, the development of language skills is of course an important part of our projects. We also strive to use the projects to promote self-confidence and independence among our participants and to round off personality development with soft skills such as flexibility and openness.

Background

Our school has been running Erasmus+ projects for 20 years and is committed to promoting education and training with an international focus. Over the years, we have been able to expand our activities and see that the interest of trainees in mobilities abroad continues unabated. In order to maintain this continuity and continue to offer as many participants as possible a chance to spend time abroad, we have implemented this project. However, due to Brexit, we had to change our previous target country and gain new partners in Ireland. Here we are now slowly starting to build new relationships and will be able to slowly increase the number of participants. In addition, a four-week mobility abroad is a compulsory part of the training programme for industrial clerks with an additional foreign language module, which we teach at our school. Through this project, we can also supplement the additional module "Kaufmann/-frau International", offered in cooperation with the Passau Chamber of Industry and Commerce, with a practical application and thus significantly increase its value.
