Objectives

Our aims coincide with the strategy of internationalization of the B10. Our students are due to acquire additional knowledge/skills referring to their professional field – in respect to intercultural competences, language skills and professional experiences of versus kinds. The enhancement of individual competences in this respect is of high priority in the metropolian area of the city of Nuremberg where we count a high proportion of citizens with a migration background. Our students should expereience the feeling of being the "foreigner" during the internship abroad and deliberate on that. Our students are due to gain knowledge about the specific demands of local curricula and sylabuses in order to be able to compare them with the framework of other pre-school facilities. The future early years experts are aiming at accepting professional mobility as a self-evident challenge which has to be faced within their training. They should be able to accept this as a personal value which has to be spread among others. The teaching staff of our academy is going to be motivated to do their own internships abroad in order to be able to acquire methodological skills and contents which can be put into practice while teaching back home.

Background

Our centre of competences for educational professionals is the second biggest place of training for apprentices for educational professions in the state of Bavaria and cares about the growing labour market for these professions (nursery nurses and preschool -teachers/educators) in our region. On the one hand we’re aiming at the enhancement of our politics of founding our strategy of internationalization on practical experiences. On the other hand we want to foster the quality of our educational studies. For more than 10 years we have been running mobility projects where we can count on continously growing numbers of participants and where we have been working on the steady development of our tools and adapted methodologies in order to guarantee the quality of our project. We still are focusing on the participation of our students on internships abroad in order to gain additional skills in practical experience in foreign pre-school facilities. In addition of that, taking part in our project enables the interns not only to gain more knowledge about the different ways of training of becoming professionals in early-childhood education, but as well to learn more about the different politics and strategies of early years education.
