Countries: DE · Grant: €21,396

Objectives

The participants were officers in the basic police service shortly after having finished training. The following goals were to be achieved, corresponding to the internationalisation strategy: 1. Intensive exchange with foreign colleagues in order to get to know police work on site, to compare the findings with previous experience and thus to improve the above-mentioned competences. 2. First international work experience for the participants, with the sensitisation for the global character of their work, further possibilities of international exchange and the chances of European networking. 3. The participants were able to perceive the Berlin Police as an internationally open and appreciative employer with good contacts within Europe. 4. Participation in the project was an appreciation of their achievements in training, as a good final grade was a prerequisite. At the same time, future trainees became aware of the project through the reporting and were in turn motivated to participate and achieve the necessary good final training grade. 5 Through reports on social media channels, information and positive perception also took place outside of the Berlin Police.

Background

In the internationalisation strategy of the Berlin Police, developed for the application of the Erasmus+ Mobility Charter 2015 and the goals formulated there, the target group of learners was given significant importance. The project served to implement the goals formulated there with regard to this target group: 1. Increasing the competence of the employees (professional, social, linguistic, intercultural) 2. Optimising police work in the capital and metropolis of Berlin 3. Sensitising participants to European cooperation and thus the European dimension of their work. The project took place for all participants after the end of the training and served to improve the professional skills acquired during the training, to optimise their language skills and to further their personal development. "Have a European start" has been implemented in the Berlin Police since 2016 and has firmly established itself as an EU-funded project for the above-mentioned target group. The acquisition of new partners, networking and the introduction of the respective current training classes to European police cooperation was the overreaching main concern of the project.
