With this project we intended to encourage participants to look beyond and leave their comfort zones, to experience mobility and diversity as a value, to get to know the manifold facets of Europe and to appreciate and to use them constructively in order to contribute to shaping a Europe, in which we treat each other with respect and grow through exchange. We wanted to equip them with skills which are priceless: Flexibility, opne-mindedness with regard to new and unfamiliar situations, self confidence, empathy, perseverance, composure, as well as the ability to consider and evaluate familiar approaches and themselves critically from another point of view. During this change of perspective and process of comparing they could discover advantages and disadvantages and reassess their education system, vocational training and learning environment. One of the most important intentions and aims was and is of course that all participants have learned a lot about themselves and that they have developed the curiosity and got the desire to discover Europe.
Our vocational school is a learning environment full of diversity. Meanwhile students and trainees from more than 60 countries, with the most diverse geographical, economic and social backgrounds, qualifications, experiences, value concepts and habits are attending our school. Every day diversity shapes our school life and both learners and teachers of our school face the challenge to deal with this variety, to realize it, to allow it to be, to see it as a value, to make use of it and to be creative with it. With this project we intend to "move" people and to equip them with skills which allow them to be open for something new and different, to allow differences to exist, and to bear them, to approach new situations, people and procedures in an open-minded and respectful way and to review their own ones, to develop relationships and to exchange views. If you leave your comfort zone you start looking at reality from a different point of view, gain new perspectives and, by comparing, grasp your own identity from a new angle. After your return from this experience, you are more self-confident, more adaptable and more stress-resistant and thus better equipped for an international labour market and unstable living conditions.
