As a certified European School, LA-1 mobilities are an integral part of our internationalisation strategy. Our goals for all activities with Europe-related projects have not fundamentally changed with regard to the previous project and can be summarised as follows: - Opening perspectives for a future professional activity in another European country and thus motivation to continue attending school (reduction of drop-out rate), - Making clear that the European unification process is essential for maintaining peace in Europe and the world, - appreciation of diversity in Europe, - Promoting multilingualism and intercultural competences, - Enabling students to act as responsible citizens of Europe. In order to do justice to internationalisation and quality development, a higher degree of tolerance and understanding for other cultures is to be expected as a result of the insights and knowledge gained. This increasing intercultural awareness as well as greater flexibility with regard to foreign behaviour patterns can also ensure better integration of different ethnic groups. This is indispensable against the background of the many new pupils with a migration background. The stays abroad of 38 pupils and four colleagues were certainly so successful because the pupils were prepared with special learning units, especially in the area of intercultural learning. The aim of the project was not only to increase the quantity of mobility, but also to ensure its quality. For this purpose, the instruments already proven in previous projects, such as counselling the supervising teachers for meaningful learning agreements and obligatory evaluations before and after the internship, were used. The project also aims at recertification as a "10% school". Our European School has already been awarded the "10% School" seal twice by the EU Office of the Cologne District Government. We are striving to be recertified as a "10% school" again in the future and to significantly increase our mobility figures. Due to the pandemic, there was unfortunately a significant drop in mobility figures, especially in this project.
The European Work Experience and Training project has continued the successful European work of the previous mobility projects at Karl-Schiller-Berufskolleg. As a European school, our aim is to enable as many students as possible from different courses of education to do an internship abroad and to further establish internships and mobilities abroad among students, colleagues and trainers. Within the framework of the project, four teacher mobilities were realised, from which different courses of education could benefit. Through the impressions and knowledge gained, colleagues provide valuable impulses for the further development of the school and also expand their own knowledge. Furthermore, teacher mobilities increase the acceptance of the European work, and the interest in working in the European team is awakened through this. In general, it can be said that the integration of European topics into the school's curriculum has been completed and in the coming school year the contents will be revised with regard to their topicality. In the case of the industrial clerks, bilingual teaching was continued and is held in high esteem by trainees and instructors. The European Business Concept continues to exist in the vocational grammar school, in the context of which pupils carry out a self-financed, three-week internship abroad (worldwide) and, in addition to bilingual lessons, take part in preparation for the CAE examination. Further language certificate courses are held in all full-time school educational programmes. Unfortunately, our long-standing exchange activities with our partner schools in Belgium, Poland, France and Spain could not be maintained during this project due to the pandemic. Contact was maintained within the framework of a job shadowing in Turkey. The possibility of carrying out mobilities here depends on general political developments.
