The expansion of competences in the areas of intercultural, linguistic, professional and social competences/skills should become a fixed element in initial vocational training. The number of assignments abroad should be increased and more educational programmes/courses should be included. The relationships to existing partners should be consolidated and new partners should be found. Another focus should be the consideration of participants with fewer opportunities to increase the chances of these trainees on the labour market. In general, the profile of the educational institution should be adapted to current developments. The acceptance and dissemination of the European Idea has a high priority in all areas of school life. That idea is more than strengthened with the implementation of this project.
The activities in vocational training are firmly anchored in the internationalization strategy of the Beckum Vocational College and also provide the framework for projects. The need for intercultural skills is anchored in many educational courses in their didactic annual plans. This also applies to the acquisition of language skills in connection with professional skills. The EPICS project makes it possible for the various training courses to access the appropriate funds in order to be able to plan and carry out assignments abroad in the long term. The personality development of many trainees should be encouraged and strengthened through experience abroad, so that they can increase their chances on the training and job market. The focus of the school as a European school and the many foreign contacts also require the initiation of ERASMUS projects. As a final reason, we can also state that many colleagues enjoyed organizing and implementing mobility projects very much and that is why it must continue.
