The project aimed to strengthen the participants' linguistic, intercultural and vocational skills. Dublin and Malta were chosen as destinations because the conditions for practising and improving English language skills there are ideal and offer a sensible alternative for our post-Brexit projects. After the difficult situation for the young people during the Corona pandemic (mainly limiting social contacts), the project was designed to promote social interaction and help the trainees cope in an unfamiliar environment. All beneficiaries were to be given the opportunity to develop their vocational skills through placements in specialised internships. By involving as many teachers as possible in the project activities, the capacity to organise transnational mobility of the sending institution should be further strengthened.
The international character of vocational training is part of the educational concept of the Akademie für berufliche Bildung gGmbH (AFBB) and is embedded in its corporate philosophy. Since 1994, mobilities abroad for the target group of learners have been conducted on a regular basis. Parallel to this, the international competences of the teaching staff have been developed. The present project should continue this process. We regard the internship abroad as a valuable experience in the professional development and personal development of our trainees and thus as an important element of our training.
