The KA2 project "Competence requirements for wholesalers and foreign traders in Europe" is intended to substantiate the EU fundamental right of free movement of persons in the field of wholesale and foreign trade enshrined in the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (Lisbon Treaty). What is required of a wholesaler and a foreigner if he wants to pursue this profession in another EU country? That is why this project will put together the competence requirements based on the tasks and solutions that a wholesaler and a foreigner in each EU country has to meet. We also compile those competence requirements that are country-specific for wholesalers and foreign traders only for individual countries. This will create a pool of tasks and solutions that will give greater transparency to those involved in VET, workers and businesses when faced with the choice of whether to use freedom of movement and work abroad or recruit applicants from another EU country. The apprentices have a self-learning opportunity with this pool, with which they can prepare themselves for the vocational exam. Teachers can use the pool for their lessons. In the long term, institutions from other EU states will complete this pool of tasks and solutions so that, in the end, they truly reflect the competence requirements of wholesalers and foreign traders across the EU.
The aim of the project was to reduce this ignorance or lack of information and to show the trainees what a wholesaler an foreign trader in the individual countries must be able to do as a young professional. With the parties involved - institutions from Austria, Bulgaria, France, Slovenia and Germany - a basic set of requirements should be laid in form of tasks that can be gradually expanded later by institutions from other EU-countries. The resulting pool of tasks an solutions should not only enable the trainees to selfprepare for their own final vocational examiation, but also made it possible to see what is required in other EU-countries. In addition, learners should be able to see that they can also do much of what is required elsewhere. That created self-confidence and maked one or the other dare to take the professional step abroad.
Trainees in wholesale and foreign trade are particularly well suited to gain professional experience abroad due their currend or future work. Erasmus+ enables them to do this at a young age during their vocational training. It is therefore a matter of course for a vocational education and training institut like ours to prepare them an encourage them to be mobile. In this way, one of the four European basic principles can be concretely experienced: that of freedom of movement in the form of possibility of being able to pursue one's profession freeley in any country of the European Union. Although many trainees do not wnat to miss experience gained during an internship abroad and are happy to have seized the opportunity, only a few later apply for a job abroad. On the one hand, there is great sympathy for the possibility of being allowed to work abroad temporarily or permanently, on the other hand, the willingness to do so is at least very expandable. Why is that so? We know from discussions with trainees that ther is an essential barrier, namely the lack of information about what will be eypected in the job abroad and whar one must be able to do in order or to be able to prctice the jub successfully. This KA2-Projekut shold help to break down the barrier.
