Objectives

A primary goal was to promote the digitization of teaching. The project distinguished between the role of teachers and the role of learners. The subject teachers were to acquire digital tools as part of their subject competence in order to present teaching material in an appealing and didactically valuable manner. Digital competence should be promoted among the students. The aim was to teach the students how to use the school's own iPads and the software installed on them. The goal was to improve the quality of the lessons. Another goal was to promote classroom management. The staff was to learn about programs for monitoring and evaluating student projects. In addition, tools for administrative tasks were to be learned and evaluated. In this regard, organizational tasks, such as excuse management, should be facilitated. Effective classroom management should also facilitate the handling of heterogeneous classes by showing effective ways of acting. Here, in addition to strengthening digital competence, the promotion of cultural competence plays an important role.

Background

As part of the school development process OES (Operatively Independent School), a survey of the teaching staff took place in October 2017 as part of an educational half-day. With the results of the half-day and with the advice of specialist consultants and the school management, a new pedagogical concept was developed for the Kaufmännische Schule Waiblingen. This concept was to implement digitization in the areas of teaching and administration and a new classroom management. Through this school development process, digital media, but also innovative didactic knowledge for lesson design and classroom management should be established at the school. The Erasmus+ project "Die Kaufmännische Schule Waiblingen im digitalen und kulturellen Wandel" (Waiblingen Commercial School in Digital and Cultural Change) was intended to be a building block on this path of school development. Professional competence in the area of digitalization of teaching and administration as well as cultural competence also play a key role in our mission statement.
