Objectives

1. Our educators should be enabled to conscoiusly master culturally conditioned situations and showing understanding in the increasingly internationalised context of our school. Intercultural competence, based on diversity and tolerance, is an overarching theme of the Berlin framework curriculum, which has been incorporated into our internal school curriculum. 2. Many of our teachers should be proficient in the A2 level of the other language. 3. Our teachers should be able to handle new media professionally and reflect on how they use them in the classroom.

Background

We are a German-French European school and thus a school with a prononced openness to other cultures and languages. At our school, children from more than 20 nationalities learn together. In order to meet this challenging situation and in line with the objectives of the European Union's 2020 strategy, we aim to continue broadening our international profile and to strengthen our intercultural competence. Furthermore, we are an encounter school, not only for children, but also for educators. Promoting the multilingualism of our pedagogical team should become an integral part of our internationalised context. Finally, we are a school in the 21st century and we need to connect to the digital world of today. The digitalisation of the school is progressing and requires that educators are able to use the new technologies and to reflect on the use and impact of digital media.
