The KLA Bremerhaven would like to improve the intercultural skills and foreign language skills of the teachers involved. On the one hand, teachers at the foreign language school in particular should get to know innovative teaching methods so that they can apply them in the foreign language school in the future. On the other hand, teachers who are employed in the dual system and are not language teachers should be able to teach individual teaching sequences in English in the future. We wanted to offer further training opportunities such as classroom management or health promotion, especially for trainee teachers and young teachers, so that they can teach and lead more efficiently. We expect that the improved knowledge of the teachers will increase the motivation of the students and improve their chances on the job market in the long term.
As a vocational school, we have to prepare our students for the demands of the European labor market. In order to achieve the EU goal of improving and innovating teaching, our school has launched a variety of projects. We offer foreign language certificates, the additional qualification Europe-Kaufmann/-frau and we started to practice exchanges with different schools in Europe. First experiences have shown that the exchange can give us new impetus. For example, the exchange with Poland has provided new ideas for project teaching and has led to higher motivation among the students involved. We hoped for similar and more far-reaching impulses from the new exchange situations that have become possible through the funding in this application. This has resulted in various training needs, which we were able to partially cover with the training courses that were carried out. Basically, the project further linked the school internationally and thus prepared it for the tasks of globalization. In view of the current situation, it is important that schools counterbalance the trend towards nationalisation.
