Objectives

With this project we pursued the goals of securing and strengthening the quality of teaching and extracurricular as well as international activities. The need arose 1) the ever-increasing demands on our teaching staff, which is closely related to the current shortage of qualified staff. 2) our profile as a "European School" (since 2021 also "Ambassador School of the European Parliament"), we see ourselves particularly committed to the area of "European Dimension" and international exchange. 3) the requirements for teachers resulting from the digitalisation of society and schools to undergo comprehensive further training and to develop ICT competences.

Background

We applied for the project even before the outbreak of the corona pandemic. It is important for our institution (then as now) in the medium and long term to maintain and increase the quality of the teaching offered. We felt and feel particularly committed to our titles "European Grammar School" and "Ambassador School of the European Parliament" (since 2021) and try to combine the claim associated with them with a concrete European dimension. We felt the need to offer our colleagues a framework that would enable them to realise this goal. We wanted to maintain our international profile even in a phase of shortage of teachers and strengthen school partnerships and international exchange and contacts. Of course at the time of the application, we had no idea that the corona pandemic would provide so many difficulties. Another point was that we wanted to make our institution fit for the future. Apart from the acquisition of technology, this of course includes skills and competences in handling it. We wanted to achieve all this by improving job satisfaction, preventing absenteeism (due to burn-out, overwork, etc.), developing foreign language skills and strengthening ICT skills.
