Our community school is located in an urban area where factors such as low wages, broken family relationships and low educational qualifications influence the everyday life of families and thus also our school work. The implementation of the project should make a contribution to school development in order to be able to meet the challenges of our everyday work. Accordingly, the increase in the competence of our employees was anchored in the objectives. Particular attention was paid to the increase in the professional, intercultural, linguistic and network competence of the participants. Central issues such as inclusion and equality should also be taken into account and active EU citizenship should be sought by strengthening European awareness and the idea of democracy. With the help of the project, a clear signal for our cosmopolitanism should also be set by passing on the experienced impressions of the participants to the student body and thus carrying them into the residential area.
The "Gemeinschaftsschule am Roten Berg" was created in 2013 from an already existing middle/ high school. In the meantime, grades 1-10 are taught in cross-year teams and grades 11-13 are being planned. The development of the school has advanced significantly in recent years. With a constantly growing number of students, the pedagogical team has also increased. Already in a first round of applications from 2016, we made very good experiences with Erasmus + at our then newly founded community school. This resulted in the desire to carry out a new project and to further advance school development with the help of it. After merging the school with the neighbouring primary school, there was a new need to facilitate the merger through joint work on the project goals. As a European School, it is also particularly important to us to enable our staff to develop personally in the field of European education.
