Objectives

The project had the following objectives: Our colleagues were to build up and expand their competence in the area of digital media by attending further training courses and thus prepare themselves professionally for the demands of a changing world of life and work. By increasing the digital competence of our colleagues, the use of media in the classroom should increase both quantitatively and qualitatively, in order to present ourselves in this way in a way that is true to life and contemporary, and to promote our students in their private and professional action competence. Through the diverse use of digital technology, teachers are better able to respond to the heterogeneous structure of our student body by being able to better integrate the different prerequisites of individual students into everyday teaching. The professional exchange with colleagues from other European countries should show our colleagues different possibilities of use and additionally motivate them to integrate digital technology into their own lessons. In the context of the training courses on a European level, new contacts are made and various possibilities for cooperation arise. Through the contacts with these colleagues, intercultural projects and cooperation should be initiated, which will benefit our school and thus our colleagues and students. The teachers who take part in further training in other European countries should not only promote their media competence, but also their language competence through the exchange with others on site.

Background

The self-image of BBS NW includes the aspect of critical reflection of quality aspects. Therefore, it is a continuous process to take advantage of various training opportunities to ensure the high quality of teaching. The rapid changes in the world we live in also mean changes for teachers and their daily work. Teachers bear a great responsibility for ensuring that students are sensitized to digital media and develop media skills. They need to learn how to navigate the web safely and to start their professional lives better with solid media skills. In order to be up to these tasks, teachers must continue to develop in the digital environment. However, it is very difficult for the school as an institution and for each individual to find a suitable approach, because digitization in itself is a broad field. In this project, we at BBS NW would like to support our colleagues in finding a sensible and feasible path for each individual. Our staff needs more knowledge about technical applications and practical examples from their own experience in order to rebuild and advance the digital competence of our school on the basis of this information. The professional exchange with colleagues from other European countries enriches the own repertoire, shows possible applications and motivates to integrate digital materials into the own lessons. Furthermore, this exchange should be a fruitful basis to further develop the European school profile of BBS NW. We would like to use the different trainings in different European countries to exchange with colleagues from other countries and to build up international projects. This should help to train interdisciplinary competences and to increase the motivation of the students to learn a foreign language. Another central concern was to increase the motivation of the students, which is to be achieved through the everyday and action-oriented use of digital media. Contemporary and varied teaching should enable the students to act in different areas of life and work.
